Pappu Yadav tears, “I was tortured,” as he speaks to a throng in Purnia, Bihar

Former MP Pappu Yadav submitted his nomination papers as an independent contender for the Purnea Lok Sabha constituency in Bihar on Thursday after the Congress rejected his request for a ticket. After submitting his nomination form, Yadav spoke to a crowd and sobbed, pleading with them to cast their ballots for him in the next Lok Sabha elections to avoid making the same mistake again.

What was said by Pappu Yadav?
“For the previous fourteen days, I was in pain…This time, avoid making any mistakes. Purneans have always backed Pappu Yadav above caste and religion.I will always support Congress, and I will do so in the future as well,” he said. Yadav said that “people in Purnea wanted me to contest” was the reason he submitted his candidature. “I will keep fighting for the welfare of the people of Purnea, Seemanchal, and Bihar,” added the politician.

In the 1990s, Pappu Yadav had three victories for the Purnea seat. Bima Bharati, a candidate for the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), submitted her nomination papers from the Purnea seat on Wednesday in front of RJD leader and former deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav. Two times as an independent MP from Purnea, Pappu Yadav was requesting a ticket from the Congress Party.

Pappu Yadav united the Congress and his party.
It is noteworthy that Pappu Yadav, the former MP who united his Jan Adhikar Party (JAP) with the Congress, was determined to run in the Lok Sabha elections from the Purnia seat, which was awarded to the RJD in accordance with the alliance’s agreement. His stance has exerted pressure on the Bihar Grand Alliance.

The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), which is the biggest element of the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance), the opposition coalition in Bihar that comprises the Congress, Left parties, and RJD, has declared that the RJD would run for 26 of the state’s 40 Lok Sabha seats, including Purnia, in the 2018 elections. Since the RJD declared that it would field former minister and Rupauli MLA Bima Bharati from the seat, Pappu Yadav has even asked RJD supremo Lalu Yadav to rethink his choice on Purnia and offer it to the Congress.
