In a vehicle accident in Gopalganj, Bihar, two police officers died

GOPALGANJ: On Sunday afternoon in the Gopalganj district of Bihar, a container truck slammed into the back of a van carrying two Bihar Police constables, killing them and injuring over a dozen others. When the accident happened close to Barhima Bazar, the police officers were traveling to Supaul for election-related duties pertaining to the third round of the Lok Sabha elections.

“A speeding container truck struck the police van at Barhima Bazar that was transporting officers on election duty. In addition to more than a dozen injuries, two police officers died on the scene.

The Gopalganj office of the Superintendent of Police issued a statement stating that the wounded people have been taken to the nearest government hospital and are said to be in stable condition. The container truck involved in the incident has been taken over by the local police.

The names of the two constables who passed away are Ashok Kumar Uraon from Punea and Pawan Mahto from Bettiah. They were both employed by the Bihar Police Department.

The driver of the container truck reportedly left the site of the collision, according to a local police officer, and further inquiries are now being conducted.
