Saran people will use their right to vote on May 20

Chhapra: District officer (DEO) Aman Samir announced on Friday that a total of 17,94,353 voters, including 274 first-time voters, will exercise their right to vote at 1,776 polling places in the Saran Lok Sabha constituency, which is distributed across six assembly segments, on May 20 in the fifth phase.

He also mentioned the 17,468 PWD (persons with disabilities) voters in the Saran seat.

Two candidates submitted their candidacy papers on the first day of the filing period. Due to Saturday being the fourth of the month, there won’t be a nomination. The nomination process will now resume on Monday.

On that day, sitting MP and NDA candidate Rajiv Pratap Rudy of the BJP and Rohini Acharya of the INDI Alliance were opposed by Lalu Prasad Yadav, a resident of Marhaura in the district and namesake of the RJD president, and Aarti Kumari, a physiotherapist in Chhapra, who filed as an independent.

When asked why she was running for office, Aarti said that she wanted to ensure that every voter had a pension. “In 2005, the Union government made a decision to that effect, but nothing has been done since,” the speaker said.
