The Bihar Government’s Decision to Remove the Domicile Policy for Teacher Recruitment is Criticised by CPIML(L)

The CPIML(L), a constituent of the Mahagathbandhan, the party in power in Bihar, said on Wednesday that the government’s decision to eliminate the residency requirement for hiring teachers was deeply unjustifiable and discriminatory towards the state’s young. The CPIML(L) asked the ruling be immediately reversed in a statement released by its state secretary Kunal.

“The government’s decision to abolish the state’s residency requirement for teaching positions is very unreasonable and discriminatory towards the young people of Bihar who are training for it. There are other states that adhere to the domicile principle in state government positions, including Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh, he noted. “Our party has always fought for the rights of educators and jobless young. Such government actions are not only acceptable when thousands of jobless youngsters in Bihar are training to become teachers. The state administration ought to reconsider its choice, he said.

If the cabinet’s decision is supported by the claim that Bihar lacks talent, according to Kunal, this raises concerns about the quality of the state’s educational system. The Nitish Kumar administration said on Tuesday that residents of other states are now eligible to apply for teaching positions in Bihar’s public schools. In the past, Bihar locals were the only ones hired to teach in state-run institutions.
