BIHAR

Anand, a former RJD leader, joins JD(U)

The JD(U) of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said on Monday that it had gained momentum with the induction of Lovely Anand, the mother of RJD MLA Chetan Anand, who defected to the NDA during last month’s assembly budget session.

At the state headquarters of the JD(U), she and her younger son Anshuman joined the party amid rumors that a family member may be nominated by the JD(U) from the Sheohar Lok Sabha constituency, which her husband Anand Mohan had thrice held.

In the impending Lok Sabha elections, the BJP has conceded Sheohar to the JD(U).

The mother and son joined the party in the presence of former JD(U) president Rajiv Ranjan Singh “Lalan,” who later said he was unaware of the NDA’s seat-sharing arrangement. He said, “Nitish Kumar will make the decision regarding which seat will have a candidate.”
