According to Gadkari, India’s road network increased by 59% in only nine years to rank second worldwide

As a result of the government’s development efforts during the last nine years, India’s road network increased by 59% to rank second in the world, according to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.

India’s road network now spans 1,45,240 km, up from 91,287 km in 2013–14, according to the Minister of Roads, Highways, and Transport.


In the nation’s capital, he was speaking at a symposium on the “9 Years of Government Achievements.”

India has set seven world records in the field in the previous nine years. According to him, India has the second-largest road system behind the United States.

The minister said that toll income increased from Rs. 4,770 crore in 2013-14 to Rs. 4,1342 crore in 2014-15.

According to Gadkari, the government wants to grow toll income to Rs 1,30,000 crore by 2020.

The use of fastags has contributed to a 47-second waiting time at toll booths.

He highlighted that the government is making a variety of efforts to further cut it to under 30 seconds.
