Early trading sees markets rise on strong global trends

Benchmark stock indexes increased in early trading on Wednesday, following the rise in world markets and recent inflows of foreign capital.

The 30-share BSE Sensex increased for the fourth session in a row, adding 235.1 points to reach 63,027.98. To 18,676.05, the NSE Nifty increased by 77.05 points.

Nestle, Power Grid, Larsen & Toubro, Axis Bank, Hindustan Unilever, Infosys, UltraTech Cement, Wipro, IndusInd Bank, and Tata Consultancy Services were among the top gainers from the Sensex pack.

The laggards included Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and HCL Technologies.

Seoul, Shanghai, and Hong Kong were trading higher on Asian markets, while Tokyo was trading down.

The US stock markets closed Tuesday with gains.

The Reserve Bank’s rate-setting monetary policy committee started discussing the issue on Tuesday, and the result will be made public on June 8.

Benchmark Brent crude fell 0.42 percent to $75.97 a barrel on the world market.

According to exchange statistics, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) purchased shares of stock worth Rs 385.71 crore on Tuesday.

The Sensex gained only 5.41 points, or 0.01 percent, to finish Tuesday at 62,792.88. The Nifty finished at 18,599, up 5.15 points, or 0.03 percent.
