The MS approach of using artificial intelligence

How can you create distinct, industry-specific AI solutions that are helpful, applicable, and highly sought after by businesses in wildly disparate fields? The Microsoft Industry AI team raised this issue to itself as soon as the public learned about Chat GPT’s and generative AI systems’ incredible powers.
They started by holding so-called “ideation workshops” where they spoke with their network of partner firms in an attempt to get responses.

It was our means of disseminating the knowledge, insights, and practical experiences we have gained about artificial intelligence.

In addition, there have been difficulties, but it has also been an opportunity to hear from leading industry partners about their observations and the implications for their respective fields. While visiting India, Microsoft’s Vice President of Industry AI, Merav Davidson, informed us.

Merav and the other members of the Industry AI team observed during these workshops that while it was relatively easy for businesses with sophisticated AI and natural language processing (NLP) capabilities to adopt and integrate generative AI solutions into their work processes, things were very different in less tech-centric businesses.
“A great deal of excitement was evident.” Merav claims that the CEO would inform the staff that they needed to take action with the ubiquitous Gen AI technology, but no one knew exactly how or what to do with it.
Merav adds her team would develop a list of use cases on how and where generative AI systems may be used for that client after lengthy discussions at the session. “We would ultimately arrive at a few prioritised use cases that would have an impact on their particular industry and enable them to generate a fresh experience, greatly enhance an already existing one, set themselves apart, and potentially even cause some degree of disruption in the industries they have been operating in.”

Merav claims that after speaking with several businesses over the last year, they now possess a plethora of helpful knowledge on the safest way to use Gen AI systems, taking into consideration issues like data privacy, hallucinations, and responsible AI. “We’ve gathered a tonne of excellent specifications and data about how we might make this technology adoption process less complicated for businesses using it. In order to assist bridge gaps and eliminate those sources of friction, we have also begun developing parts, tools, and solutions.
Making templates
The London Stock Exchange Group is one organisation that Microsoft’s Industry AI team has been assisting (LSEG). Numerous data is produced by large financial institutions, and meetings pertaining to these financial services operations are often intricate and heavily reliant on charts and graphs. The Industry AI team’s solution, dubbed Meeting Prep, combines news, papers, emails, chats, and other pertinent material from Microsoft Graph in Microsoft 365 with insights from LSEG’s financial data to automatically produce meeting preparation summary.
In collaboration with Siemens, the team has unveiled Industrial Copilot, an AI-driven helper that will drastically reduce simulation durations and allow users to quickly create, optimise, and debug complicated automation code. It has collaborated with Bayer on an agricultural Copilot with the goal of adding value by enabling natural language interaction with agronomic data. It has developed AI Design Assistant in collaboration with the edtech business Anthology, allowing teachers to spend more time with students and less time developing curricula and tests.
According to Nishant Merav, an examination of a customer support Copilot revealed that it made it possible for 14% more cases to be handled in one hour. Additionally, our statistics demonstrate that information professionals who use Copilot save over an hour per week. It also allows developers to code 55% quicker, according to her.
The Industry AI team has made a number of templates available that are simple to use for various sectors to use generative AI solutions in their own businesses. It is intended to offer further templates in the next months.
