In Telegram, a doctor was duped out of Rs. 1 crore. How It Occurred

Online scams are becoming prevalent in this day and age and come in many different varieties, including call forwarding scams and online employment scams on WhatsApp and Telegram. In one recent incidence, a 43-year-old Visar doctor lost an incredible Rs 1 crore in a fraud involving movie rating ratings.

The Visar doctor was reportedly approached by con artists on Telegram under the guise of giving payment for online movie reviews. Hafiza@094 was the one who sent the message. The guy reportedly earned Rs 830 in the first transaction by giving a movie five ratings.

The Telegram user then enticingly requested that the doctor send Rs 9,900 to an unidentified bank account in order to qualify for a greater commission. Afterwards, his online ticket rating account showed that he had earned an astounding Rs 31 lakh in commission earnings, but when he tried to withdraw the aforementioned “commission,” the con artists demanded that he pay a fee equal to Rs 15 lakh. As the cycle continued, the “commission” amount finally increased to Rs 1.96 crore in a short period of time.

The doctor submitted a total of Rs. 1.09 crore, according to Arnala Police, in the hopes of getting his commission back.

Such scams are getting increasingly prevalent, particularly on social media. Knowing when someone could be attempting to take advantage of you is vital, particularly if they are providing an opportunity that looks too good to be true. Always do your homework and refrain from answering arbitrary calls or texts promising work or money for easy chores.
