They are the ones that started Urban Company, which was formerly called UrbanClap. While pursuing their degrees at IIT Kanpur, Abhiraj Bhal and Varun Khaitan got to know one another. After graduating, Varun worked for the massive semiconductor company Qualcomm, while Abhiraj chose to attend the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad to get an MBA. The pair of IIT graduates eventually met Raghav Chandra, who had also had a failed business endeavor. The three of them founded Urban Clap after seeing an opening in the home services industry. The business was able to leave its imprint on the sector after experiencing early success. The firm received an undisclosed investment from billionaire Ratan Tata after operating for about a year. With more than 50 lakh clients and a network of 30,000 service professionals, the firm is presently valued at over Rs 20000 crore.
