Mumbai Police Issues Red Alert For Android Users As WhatsApp Pink Scam Rises

Red alerts have been sent out by the Mumbai Police to Android users who have WhatsApp installed in Pink. The Mumbai Police sent a message on Twitter with the subject line “WHATSAPP PINK – A Red Alert For Android Users” with an image illustrating the scam’s repercussions and preventative actions.

The message on the image says, “The news about ‘New Pink Look WhatsApp with extra features’ that has recently been making the rounds among WhatsApp users is a hoax that can result in the hacking of your mobile device through malicious software.”

“Fraudsters often devise new schemes and techniques to entice unsuspecting individuals into falling into their trap and committing online scams. Users are responsible for being safe and secure in the digital world by being Aware, Alert, and Attentive to these sorts of scams.

The abuse of contact information and photos kept on mobile devices, financial loss, compromise of your passwords, spam messages, and other issues may all result from downloading WhatsApp in Pink.

It is suggested that users delete the bogus WhatsApp software they downloaded right away by going to settings > applications > WhatsApp (pink logo) and doing so.

Never click on links from unidentified sources without first doing sufficient verification or authentication. Additionally, you should always download software from a trustworthy website or the official Google or iOS app store.

Never reveal your login credentials, passwords, credit or debit card information, or any other similar information with anybody online since it might be used for illegal purposes.

Additionally, maintain track of the most recent news and updates on the actions of cyber fraudsters to be informed and vigilant about such efforts by cyber criminals.
