Review of Samsung Galaxy XCover 7: Long-lasting design

Samsung offers something for everyone, from power users who do most of their work on-the-go using their phones to early adopters in less affluent locations. However, there haven’t been many solutions for meeting the unique demands of those working in the healthcare, sanitation, and food production sectors, as well as first responders including police, firefighters, paramedics, and others.

Samsung has introduced the Galaxy XCover 7 smartphone to cater to the unique requirements of business professionals and customers. It is not like the other elegant, sophisticated cellphones that the massive South Korean tech company sells; instead, it is a robust, tough gadget that screams utility.
The Galaxy XCover 7 smartphone, which costs Rs 22,024, is designed to endure the rigours of hard work settings. After using the phone for a while, here are our thoughts on it.

Design of the Samsung Galaxy XCover 7
The Samsung Galaxy XCover 7 is a somewhat weighty gadget with a strong polycarbonate casing protecting the internals. The smartphone is well-built, with diagonal patterns on the rear panel for improved grip.
The smartphone evokes recollections of bygone eras in which phones had user-replaceable batteries. The swappable batteries are included with the intention of keeping the lights on. (See the battery section for further information.)

With an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance and a MIL-STD-810H certification for strength and weatherproofing, the Samsung Galaxy XCover 7 is equipped to handle harsh weather conditions, including dust, rain, vibrations, humidity, and even drops.

Along with a customizable button that can be mapped to start any app or function, the phone also has a standard power button, a volume rocker, and other buttons. It is assigned to switch the flashlight on and off in its normal configuration. In addition, the phone has a USB Type-C connector for charging, a pair of pogo pins, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Samsung says that the smartphone’s 6.6-inch display, which has substantial bezels, brightness up to 600 nits, and FHD+ resolution, makes it easier to see clearly and comfortably while working in the field. Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection is included with the display. Additionally, Touch Sensitivity means that employees may use the tablet throughout the workplace without taking off their work gloves.
Even if the display is not what one would anticipate from a Samsung smartphone, one must consider the smartphone’s intended usage. Since a worker’s primary responsibility is to keep their phone secure rather than use it for entertainment purposes, we believe the display is enough for them when they are on duty. We found no issues with the offered display quality, and the text is readable even in bright, direct sunshine.
Performance of the Samsung Galaxy XCover 7:
A MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ CPU, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of expandable storage—which can be expanded to 1TB—power the Samsung Galaxy XCover 7. It is a functional smartphone that does the job.
When it comes to routine operations like chatting, making calls, and even browsing the internet, it performs satisfactorily. From a smartphone with a clearly defined function, we didn’t have high hopes, yet it surpassed them.
We may make an inaccurate comparison by comparing it other cellphones in the same price range. We want to emphasize that the durability that no other smartphone in the same price range can match is traded off for a somewhat less powerful SoC.

With One UI 6.0, which is based on Android 14, the phone provides a user interface that is familiar to those who own Samsung smartphones. Four significant OS upgrades and five years of security are being provided by the corporation.
Samsung made a point of highlighting the speakers. One of the loudest speakers available for a smartphone powers the Galaxy XCover7, and the manufacturer promises that customers will be able to hear the phone even in noisy environments.
The Samsung Knox Vault, which safeguards customers’ sensitive data in a separate piece of tamper-resistant hardware, is included in the Samsung Galaxy XCover7. Consistent OS and security upgrades are also included.
Camera on the Samsung Galaxy XCover 7
There is one rear and one front camera on the Samsung Galaxy XCover 7. The rear camera has a 50MP sensor and a dual-tone LED flash, emphasizing utility above megapixels and sharpness. The camera does not capture the beautiful pictures that Samsung owners are used to; instead, its primary function is utilitarian, such as scanning barcodes and paperwork.

A 5MP camera on the front is good enough for taking selfies and making video calls, so employees can use their spare time to quickly speak with friends and family.
Battery for Samsung Galaxy XCover 7
The 4,050mAh battery for the Samsung Galaxy XCover 7 is changeable. According to the company’s reasoning, by retaining this “old” capability, employees would be able to use the phone.
For instance, a person is being transported in an ambulance from one hospital to another due to an emergency. In certain circumstances, staff members may swiftly change the phone’s battery to maintain operations even if it runs out.

Samsung showed that the smartphone would continue to function even after the battery is removed, giving the employee ten seconds to change the battery. We replugged the battery after taking it out for three to five seconds since we didn’t have an extra battery to test it with. This feature works just as promised.
Verdict on Samsung Galaxy XCover 7
The Samsung Galaxy XCover 7 is a tough smartphone made for those who value practicality and longevity above the newest features. It includes a sturdy construction, a user-replaceable battery, and useful features. It is a future-ready device with the addition of Knox Vault for data protection and numerous years of software support.
The Samsung Galaxy XCover 7 is a specialized device rather than one for the general public, but it is a fantastic choice for those who work in physically demanding industries like construction and medicine.
