Today’s stock market opening update: Sensex, Nifty Open Flat, Rupee Opens 26 Paise Higher; Highlights Include Glenmark Pharma, IdeaForge, and JSW Steel

In the early morning trading session on Friday, the main indexes in India started unchanged. The Nifty was down 5.80 points or 0.03% at 19,736.50 while the Sensex was down 18.02 points or 0.03% at 66,212.22.

The Nifty broke below 19,750 on Thursday, and the Indian market benchmark closed down for the third session in a row. The Nifty fell 159.10 points or 0.80% to 19,742.30, while the Sensex fell 570.60 points or 0.85% to 66,230.24.

All sectoral indexes finished down, down up to 3%, with the hardest impacted being public and private banks, the auto and pharmaceutical industries.

The Indian Rupee, on the other hand, started 26 paise higher at 82.82 versus the US Dollar than it did at Thursday’s closing rate of 83.09.
