Aamir Khan discusses how the Maharashtra bandh was crucial to his acting career

Aamir Khan spoke candidly about how the Maharashtra bandh had a significant influence on his acting career. Aamir said that he had always wanted to be an actor, even in spite of family concerns. He said that he was afraid of failing his uncle, the well-known director Nasir Husain.

Aamir reflected on his path on the most recent episode of “The Great Indian Kapil Show,” saying, “I worked behind the scenes for a year and a half, and I even took part in two plays.”My uncle Nasir Husain, a well-known director, and my parents forbade us kids from going into the film business. They advised us to concentrate on our education instead since they thought it was an unreliable career. I never had the confidence to tell my parents that I wanted to pursue acting because of their explosive tempers, especially my father.”

Telling the moving story of how destiny stepped in, Aamir said, “Acting was more of a serendipitous endeavor for me. I persisted and chose to try out for a Gujarati play after failing auditions for collegiate plays. I got chosen, which delighted me. But destiny had other ideas. I was unable to attend rehearsals because of the Maharashtra bandh only two days before to the show. I was devastated to learn that I had been kicked out of the play when I was questioned by director Mahendra Joshi the next day. But soon after, I had approaches from two people who wanted to cast me in an FTII student’s graduation film. I seized the chance without thinking twice and shot in Pune.”

Aamir said that after seeing the graduation film, a different student approached him about seeing another movie. Renowned director Ketan Mehta was drawn to this series of events, which ultimately helped Aamir get his big break in “Holi.” After that, despite the need for a screen test and other procedures, his uncle Nasir Husain and cousin Mansoor Khan saw his aptitude and put him in the classic movie “Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak.”
Regarding his professional career, Aamir Khan previously starred in the movie “Laal Singh Chaddha.”
