Aamir Khan’s “Sarfarosh,” winner of the National Award, turns 25

Fewer Indian films, even those with gripping stories, stick in our memories when we look at the genre more broadly. One such movie is the action thriller “Sarfarosh” starring Aamir Khan, which debuted with a unique story and made ripples in and throughout the country.

One of the best storytelling miracles, the movie captivated viewers with its thought-provoking plot, lovely melodies, well-written language, and, of course, the outstanding performances by its ensemble, which included Naseeruddin Shah, Aamir Khan, Sonali Bendre, and Mukesh Rishi.
The film “Sarfarosh” evokes a warm sense of patriotism as it tells the narrative of an Indian police officer’s fight against cross-border terrorism.

The movie created a storyline in the viewers’ thoughts, revealing the unspoken realities of the Indian police force, political structure, and terrorist network.
This movie is very unique because of its well-considered characterisation and outstanding performances. Although Naseeruddin Shah received special recognition for his portrayal of a Muhajir, Aamir Khan elevated the character of A.C.P. Rathod to a level of realism never before seen. Sonali Bendre was also a key player, helping to shape the movie’s romantic plot with her dazzling chemistry with Aamir Khan.

Sarfarosh was most notable for its music, which is still unique and deserving of the moniker “evergreen.” The film has classic songs like “Hosh Walon Ko Khabar Kya,” “Zindagi Maut Na Ban Jaye,” “Is Deewane Ladke Ko,” “Jo Haal Dil Ka,” and others, all composed by the famous combo Jatin-Lalit.
“Sarfarosh” was well-received by critics and was included in the award ceremonies. In addition to winning several accolades from the public, the movie took home the coveted National Film Award for Best Popular Film Offering Healthful Entertainment. The film was remarkably exhibited at the India International Film Festival.
