Exclusive: Sendhil Ramamurthy of Do Aur Do Pyaar calls Alia Bhatt “terrific” and claims that his family “freaked out” about him collaborating with Vidya Balan

Recently, American actor Sendhil Ramamurthy portrayed Vikram in the Bollywood romantic comedy Do Aur Do Pyaar. The movie, which also stars Pratik Gandhi, Ileana D’Cruz, and Vidya Balan, examines contemporary relationships.

In a special chat with Pinkvilla, Sendhil expressed his respect for Alia Bhatt. He also remembered how his partnership with Vidya in the movie Do Aur Do Pyaar caused his family to “freaken out.”

Actor Sendhil Ramamurthy praises Alia Bhatt for Do Aur Do Pyaar.
In a Pinkvilla exclusive interview, Sendhil Ramamurthy listed the actors he would want to work with in the future. Taking Alia Bhatt by name, he said, “I would be thrilled to collaborate with Alia Bhatt. I believe she is amazing. “I didn’t get any scenes with her in Shor in the City, and I think she’s an incredible actress,” he said in reference to Radhika Apte. She is very, really talented.

“We talk about trying to find a project that we can work on together again,” Sendhil said when asked about his wish to collaborate with Vidya Balan once again. Working with her was a very rewarding experience. Being on the sets with her was simply so much fun.

“I just like to do something different, any role that challenges me, and as far as genres, I love doing comedy,” Sendhil stated when asked about the movie genres he wanted to explore. I would like to give a kind of physical comedy a go.

Along with discussing his experiences in the Bollywood business, Sendhil said, “I had a great time working on Shor in the City and this film as well. As an American actor living in India, I certainly have lower expectations from Bollywood, but I would still want to take on the proper job when it arises.

Sendhil Ramamurthy spoke on his kind welcome on the sets during the conversation, stating, “I didn’t know anyone except Vidya.” I had seen Shakuntala Devi’s The Dirty Picture. Everyone there was so kind and inviting when I arrived. I was quite taken aback. The kindness shown to me was just unbelievable.

Sendhil recollected his family’s response to Do Aur Do Pyaar, saying, “Being a big deal, I wasn’t sure what to expect with Vidya.” When my family learned that I was filming a movie with Vidya Balan, they went completely crazy. That’s what freaked me out too, because I wasn’t aware of the entire Vidya Balan aura, but my family knew, and that’s when I began to become anxious.

Sendhil said, “And then the first minute I met her, she was just so warm,” in reference to Vidya. She simply put me at ease so much. As an actor, she was just so selfless. “It was Vikram’s last scene in the film, where Vidya’s character comes and gives him the letter saying that it’s not going to work out between us, and here’s the key back to the flat,” he said, recalling an instance when Vidya assisted him with a scene.

Sendhil went on, “I was having a lot of trouble with it and wasn’t sure how far to push it. Vidya walked off camera to the side of me as I was standing there doing a take, and she just held my hand as I read the letter.

“I didn’t ask her to do it; she just instinctively knew that this might be of help to me,” he said, referring to how Vidya put him at ease. During our performance of the sequence, she held my hand, and the movie utilized that take. Vidya’s little actions like that were what really helped me feel at ease with her.
