Rajinikanth’s “Coolie” crew receives a copyright notification from Ilaiyaraaja

Ilayaraja, the music composer, has submitted a copyright notice to the creators of “Coolie” for utilizing his music without authorization in the movie’s trailer.

Rajinikanth will play the protagonist in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s next film, which is named “Coolie.” The developers of ‘Coolie’ recently released the title teaser, which took the audience by surprise. The song ‘Va va pakkam va’ by Ilaiyaraaja from ‘Thangamagan’ was replicated in Anirudh’s title teaser for ‘Coolie’.

As a result, Ilaiyaraaja has sent the filmmakers of “Coolie” a legal notice for using his compositions without getting consent.
As per the notification, Ilaiyaraaja, the original owner of the song ‘Va Va Pakkam Va’ and the music played in the teaser, was not formally consulted. It has been noted that this violates the 1957 Copyright Act. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj is specifically accused in the lawsuit because he keeps engaging in these kinds of actions. Earlier, Lokesh Kanagaraj sang a song called “Vikram Vikram” from the film Vikram without the composer’s consent. It has also been claimed that the audio of the song “En Jodi Manja Kuruvi” from Lokesh Kanagaraj’s production company, “Fight Club,” has been copied without authorization.
Ilaiyaraaja has insisted that the creators of “Coolie” either get the appropriate authorization for the use of the song “Va Va Pakkam Va,” which is included in the title teaser, or take the music out of the teaser. The warning from Ilaiyaraaja then said that, should they choose not to comply, they had every right to pursue legal action.
