Chennai Metro: Six stations now provide regular riders exclusive monthly parking passes

Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) said on Tuesday that Metro riders who have taken at least 15 journeys in the previous 30 days are now the only ones eligible for the monthly parking permit offer.

Six stations are offering this opportunity, as per a CMRL announcement.

According to OneIndia, there are six metro stations where this rule is applicable: Wimco Nagar Depot Metro, Ashok Nagar Metro, Koyambedu Metro, Nehru Park Metro, and Alandur Metro.

Based on space availability and station occupancy, CMRL has revised parking choices to guarantee Metro passengers preferential parking:

Only metro commuters who have used a monthly pass at least 15 times in the previous 30 days are eligible to use it in the parking lots of the six stations listed.

Because there aren’t enough parking spaces at New Washermenpet Metro, Nandanam Metro, Egmore Metro, and Shenoy Nagar Metro, the monthly pass program isn’t available there.

In order to handle the increasing demand, hourly parking rates for non-commuters have been increased at eighteen stations. A few of these stations are the following: Airport Metro, Mannadi Metro, New Washermenpet Metro, Nandanam Metro, Egmore Metro, Ashok Nagar Metro, Alandur Metro, Government Estate Metro, LIC Metro, Guindy Metro, Nanganallur Road Metro, Meenambakkam Metro, Thirumangalam Metro, Airport Metro, and ThiruvotriyurMetro.

The monthly pass rates at Arumbakkam Metro & St. Thomas Mount Metro stations have gone up for non-commuters (those who haven’t used the metro or have taken less than 15 journeys in the last 30 days).

The rates for parking at other stations have not changed.

The goal of this extension of the monthly parking permit program is to efficiently manage parking resources across several stations and to make regular Chennai Metro passengers’ lives easier.
