Four years after Ruth Wilson came out with the affair charges, Dominic West says she was “absolutely right.”

Four years after Ruth Wilson expressed her worries over her time on The Affair, Dominic West is showing his support for her. The 42-year-old Wilson said in August of 2018 that she would not be going back to the program. She then said that several factors that made her feel uncomfortable had an impact on her choice to quit.

The 54-year-old West acknowledged Wilson’s claims in an interview with The Sunday Times on April 21, saying, “We spoke about it a lot, and I think I saw it.I would rather not think about it too much, but certainly, what Ruth has stated is true. The actor, who is most known for his work in The Crown, made these comments in response to Wilson’s November 2020 interview with Stylist, in which she gave an explanation for her decision to leave the show.

Wilson said, “I haven’t delved into The Affair because I haven’t figured out how to address it,” underscoring her agency in deciding how to handle the circumstance. There is a lot of controversy and resentment around it, but in the end, I get to choose how I talk about my experiences and life.” She addressed worries she had about protecting herself while on The Affair and insisted that she did speak out, have a voice, and stand up for herself.

Wilson said that she left the program because she was uncomfortable with several parts of it. Wilson followed her gut even though there were no social movements like #MeToo or Harvey Weinstein disclosures at the time.

In December 2019, The Hollywood Reporter said that Wilson was hesitant to record several naked sequences for the program, especially when they seemed superfluous. According to the article, there was a poisonous atmosphere on the set, and showrunner Sarah Treem tried to get the players to do sequences they didn’t feel comfortable with.
