Hombale Films builds the most expansive floor in Kundapura for the filming of Kantara Chapter 1

Filming for the much awaited project, Kantara Chapter 1, directed and starring Rishab Shetty, has finally begun. The project is poised to blossom on a grand scale, supported by Chaluve Gowda and their committed crew, as well as Hombale Films, helmed by Vijay Kiragandur.

Although the first phase of full-fledged filming is slated to begin this week and last for 20 days, it has emerged that the production crew will be temporarily establishing camp in Kundapura. They think the inside scenes, which will be shot against Kundapura’s stunning seaside backdrop, would enhance the story, even if the exterior portions will be done in wood.

Indian cinema is reaching new heights with the forthcoming prequel Kantara Chapter 1, which is a sequel to the popular film Kantara. With a custom-built set in Kundapura, this big-budget project has one of the biggest sets since Ramoji Film City. This 200-square-foot indoor set, complete with an editing suite, dubbing studio, and air conditioning, is a technological wonder. Everything needed to make a movie is now accessible.

Stunt experts who have moved to Kundapura, technicians from Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Mumbai, and 600 carpenters who are now employed have all been mobilized for the project. Performers are receiving rigorous instruction in both horseback riding and Kalaripayattu, all while painstakingly rehearsing scenes—all of which are occurring under one roof.

In addition to meeting Kantara Chapter 1’s creative demands, the production company sees the infrastructure as a long-term asset. The space will be permanently installed, used for next productions, and maybe rented out to other production companies.

Filmmakers are attracted to the coastal area of Karnataka because of its picturesque beauty and unexplored possibilities. The production team hopes to build infrastructure and chances for local talent in addition to taking use of the region’s inherent charm.

The screenplay for Kantara Chapter 1 was written by Shanil Guru and Anirudh Mahesh, with additional contributions from director and star Rishab Shetty. Ajaneesh Loknath will compose the soundtrack for the movie, while Aravind Kashyap will handle the photography. The whole cast of the prequel has not yet been formally revealed, however a few actors from the original Kantara have joined.
