Malayalam movie screenings at PVR-INOX are suspended due to a dispute with the Kerala Film Producers Association

Due to a disagreement with the Kerala Film Producers Association (KFPA), the well-known cinema chain PVR-INOX has abruptly ceased showing Malayalam films nationwide, shocking fans and professionals in the field.

They reportedly opted not to broadcast the new Eid films of Jai Ganesh, Varshangalkku Shesham, and Aavesham. Furthermore, the screening of Prithviraj’s Aadujeevitham, which debuted on March 28, has been discontinued.

Conflict between Producers Association and PVR-INOX
PDC is a new content provider that was founded by the Kerala Film Producers Association (KFPA), according to sources. The producers pleaded with Keralan theaters to screen their films via this new endeavor. PVR management, however, objected to the idea and chose not to show any further Malayalam movies.

In a combined statement, the Kerala Film Producers’ Association and the Kerala Film Distributors’ Association declared that they would not work with PVR unless the multiplex chain paid the producers’ losses as a result of not releasing the new films and removing the Malayalam films that were showing.

After discovering that the Virtual Print Fee (VPF) being imposed by current content suppliers like Qube, UFO, PXD, and TSR to show movies in theaters was too exorbitant, producers and distributors formed the Kerala Film Producers’ Association, which recently established PDC (Producers’ Digital Cinema), a content mastering unit. According to the statement, PDC wants to exhibit films at a fair price.

PVR argued that requiring an exhibitor to get Malayalam material from a single source via the producers’ association’s content mastering and distribution network “is anti-competitive in nature and prohibited under the law” in a statement that was posted on the social networking site X.The message said, “As law-abiding members of the film industry, we are unable to abide by this.”

The statement went on to say, “We are excited to announce that all Malayalam films will be shown at PVR Forum Kochi and all of our other theaters across Kerala and India.” We kindly request that all producers and filmmakers get in touch with us in a positive manner so that together we can grow and improve the Malayalam film industry.
