A charge sheet was submitted for Elvish Yadav.
Videos pertaining to the snake poison case, phone logs, and further electronic evidence are also included in the chargesheet as supporting documentation. Additionally, the charge sheet contains evidence pertaining to the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act that Elvish Yadav has been subjected to. The matter began in November of last year when Elvish Yadav and eight other people—five of whom were snake charmers—were the subject of a formal complaint that was filed against them. Three others, Elvish Yadav among them, were also detained recently in relation to the case.

A complaint from the People for Animals (PFA) group led to a raid on a banquet venue in Sector 51 by the Noida Police last year. Nine poisonous snakes were found during the operation, and five people were taken into custody. Elvish was named in a Federal Police Report (FFIR) that the PFA filed, alleging him of planning rave events to which international guests were invited and of setting up deadly snakes. It is important to remember that taking a snake’s venom glands is illegal under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, and individuals found guilty may spend up to seven years in jail.

As part of their investigation into the possible use of snake venom as a recreational drug at parties given by Elvish, the Noida Police detained him on March 17. Based on a complaint from a representative of the animal rights NGO People for Animals (PFA), the case began with a First Information Report (FIR) submitted at Noida’s Sector 49 police station on November 3, 2017. Five additional people, all snake charmers, were identified in the FIR in addition to Elvish. The other five defendants were taken into custody in November but are now out on bond.
