An American streamer, age thirteen, becomes the first person to ever defeat the “unbeatable” Tetris game

Tetris, a beloved Nintendo video game that has been around for more than three decades, has been defeated by a 13-year-old American, making it a “kill screen.”

As he positioned the puzzle pieces to cascade down the screen, Willis Gibson, also known as Blue Scuti, prayed for the game to crash. A little while later, his wish was granted as the game stopped, causing him to continuously shout, “Oh my God!” in a video that was posted to YouTube on January 2.

According to 404 Media, Gibson shattered the records for the total number of lines, level attained, and overall score.

Vince Clemente, CEO of the Classic Tetris World Championship, told Reuters, “This is unbelievable.”

“The game has finally been defeated by a human, something the developers never thought would happen.”

According to Clemente, the only computer program that had defeated Tetris before was an artificial intelligence one.

In contrast to the formerly well-liked “hyper tapping” approach, Willis uses a “rolling” controller technique that became popular in 2021 and enables a player to operate the directional pad, or D-pad, at least 20 times per second to move the blocks, according to 404 Media.

The goal of the 1984 hit game Tetris is to rotate and connect seven distinct falling block configurations. It quickly gained popularity around the globe.

Generation after generation, Tetris—a game first invented by Alexey Pajitnov at the Moscow Academy of Science at the height of the Cold War—has remained remarkably popular. It was developed as a company by Henk Rogers, a game entrepreneur.

The Tetris Company claims that with 520 million units sold, it is the best-selling video game of all time.
