Condemning the three-train accident in Odisha, UNGA President

Csaba Korosi, the president of the UN General Assembly, has sent his sincere condolences to the families and the Indian government for the unfortunate train accident in Odisha that claimed at least 233 lives.

In one of India’s biggest railway accidents on Friday, three trains crashed one after the other in the Balasore district of Odisha, igniting a mammoth rescue and evacuation effort.

At least 233 people have died and over 900 have been wounded in the catastrophe.

“I was shocked to learn of the railway accident in Odisha, India. My sympathies and thoughts are with the victims, their loved ones, and the emergency personnel. The 77th session of the General Assembly was presided over by Korosi, who tweeted, “Heartfelt condolences to the people and the Government of India.

Around 7 p.m. on Friday, a train crashed near the Bahanaga Baazar station in the Balasore district, roughly 250 km south of Kolkata and 170 km north of Bhubaneswar. The Railway Ministry immediately ordered an investigation.
