In a Russian spacecraft bound for the International Space Station, one American and two Russians launch into space
On a trip to the International Space Station, one American and two Russian astronauts launched Friday from Kazakhstan’s Baikonur Cosmodrome aboard a Russian spacecraft.
At 8:44 p.m. local time, the Roscosmos Soyuz MS-24 spacecraft carried NASA astronaut Loral O’Hara and Roscosmos cosmonauts Oleg Kononenko and Nikolai Chub into orbit.
Kononenko and Chub will spend a year on the International Space Station, while O’Hara will stay there for six months. O’Hara and Chub have never been into space before, but they are accompanied by experienced cosmonaut Kononenko, who has previously completed four trips.
The journey should take the group three hours to reach the space station.
