The Biden campaign releases a commercial aimed towards moderate Republicans

Washington: In an effort to forge a new alliance and win back the moderates who supported Nikki Haley over Donald Trump for the Republican nomination, US President Joe Biden issued a television commercial on Friday that is aimed at her supporters.

In the advertisement, Trump—the Republican nominee for president in 2024—repeatedly makes fun of the former UN ambassador and tells a reporter that he can win without going after her followers.
“She has lost her mind. Throughout the 30-second ad, which is intercut with social media postings in which the Republican states he “will not accept” her fans and threatens to exclude them from his political organisation, Trump is heard adding, “She’s a very angry person.”
The video was shared on social media by Biden with the following caption: “Voters supporting Nikki Haley, Donald Trump does not want your support. Just to be clear, you have a role in my campaign.”
Before his rematch with Trump in November, Biden had amassed a campaign war chest of more than $70 million, more than twice the amount of money raised by his predecessor and allowing him more flexibility to spend heavily on television advertising.
At an event in New York on Thursday, the president raised an approximate amount of $26 million with former presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.
Trump’s schedule has been split between court hearings and campaign visits as he fights 88 criminal charges.
Additionally, he had to spend tens of millions of dollars on legal expenses out of contributions that might have helped his campaign.
However, he makes several appearances in courthouses, which he exploits as campaign events, and profits handsomely from the free press.
The Financial Times reports that the 77-year-old, who has been charged four times, mostly for alleged efforts to rig elections, is scheduled to raise $33 million at a fundraiser on April 6 in Florida.
After beating Haley by large percentages in every state that had early voting and a “Super Tuesday” contest, including her home state of South Carolina, Trump was able to capture the Republican nomination to begin March.
However, a sizable portion of Republican primary voters—up to 40% in certain states—did not endorse Trump, sparking concerns that he wouldn’t be able to win over the moderates he would need to retake the White House.
The television commercial, which targets Haley supporters in mostly suburban districts where she outperformed Trump, will air for three weeks in eight crucial election states.
The advertisement will also be shown on a variety of digital sites, such as those run by YouTube and Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram.
“As Trump loses ground, derides women, and threatens to ban abortion nationwide, Joe Biden is reaching across the aisle to Haley voters, inviting them to join his growing and winning coalition of voters who will decide this election,” the campaign for the president said.
