In his farewell State of the Union Address, President Joe Biden mentions “restored US-India ties amid China rise.”

WASHINGTON: In his robust defense of a second term, President Joe Biden criticized GOP front-runner Donald Trump for endorsing “resentment, revenge, and retribution” and for endangering freedom both at home and abroad at his State of the Union address on Thursday night.
Seizing the political opportunity, Biden repeatedly raised his voice in an attempt to allay voter concerns about his age and work performance while drawing attention to his all-but-certain Nov rival. He did this by firing broadsides at “my predecessor” 13 times without mentioning Trump by name.

The purpose of Biden’s abrasive tone, which marked a departure from his typically dull daily appearances, was to dispel concerns about the 81-year-old president—the oldest in the nation—still being capable of carrying out his duties.
In the House chamber, Biden provoked Republicans about their positions on immigration, taxes, and other issues for 68 minutes. He also encouraged Democratic colleagues to engage in back-and-forth banter and seemed to enjoy the altercation. “It may not seem like it, but I’ve been in this game for a long time,” Biden said. “And when you get to my age certain things become clearer than ever before.”
Noting that he was born during World War II and reached voting age in the turbulent 1960s, Biden said, “I have learned to value freedom and democracy throughout my life. A future founded on the fundamental principles that have made America great: equality, decency, honesty, and dignity. to treat everyone with dignity. to provide a fair chance to everyone. not to provide a haven for hatred. Some individuals my age now see a different narrative, one that is centered on American hatred, vengeance, and retribution. I’m not like that.”
The president connected foreign threats against democracy with President Trump’s commendation of people who took over the Capitol in an effort to rig the 2020 election. “Freedom and democracy are being attacked simultaneously both domestically and internationally,” Biden said, pleading with Congress to back Ukraine’s defense efforts against Russia. “History is watching.” In a clear allusion to the Capitol uprising on January 6, 2021, Biden criticized those who had minimized it. “My predecessor – and some of you here – seek to bury the truth about Jan 6 – I will not do that,” Biden said. “Now is the time to expose falsehoods and tell the truth. This is a basic fact. One cannot love their nation just via victory.”
While touting his legislative achievements, which included providing cash to support computer chip production throughout the country, Biden deviated from his pre-planned speech to poke fun at Republicans who opposed these measures in Congress but nevertheless claimed credit for them at home. “If any of you don’t want that money in your districts,” Biden said, “just let me know.”
Along with rhetorically questioning the fairness of the tax system and if billionaires and companies needed “another $2 trillion in tax breaks,” as he said Republicans wanted, Biden also engaged legislators in a boisterous round of call and answer. Additionally, Biden emphasized his attempts to combat “shrinkflation” and “junk fees” associated with services. Although neither is a major cause of inflation, the White House wanted to convey to customers that Biden is on their side.
