US Judge Starts Revealing Contacts With Jeffrey Epstein

United States, New York: Wednesday marked the start of a New York judge’s unveiling of the names of those connected, via court records, to US millionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who committed himself in 2019 while awaiting prosecution for sexual offenses.

About 1,000 pages of depositions and statements make up the first tranche of 40 previously revealed papers; the ultimate collection of documents is anticipated to contain the names of notable people.

Numerous Epstein acquaintances who were previously identified as John or Jane Does in a lawsuit filed against Epstein’s former lover, Ghislaine Maxwell, will be among those named. It does not imply any kind of cooperation with Epstein’s transgressions.

Notable personalities are anticipated to be revealed, as well as those who have already disclosed their connections to Epstein in talks with the media that were referenced in the ruling mandating their identities to be disclosed.

The revelation is part of a defamation lawsuit filed by plaintiff Virginia Giuffre against Epstein and his former lover Ghislaine Maxwell, who was given a 20-year jail term in 2022.

A court last month listed over 180 instances in a 50-page document, all under pseudonyms, with orders that the parties reveal their names within 14 days, or the first few days of January.

A few people have expressed disapproval about their names being revealed in this instance.

The attorneys for “Doe 107” wrote to the court in the case, claiming that their client would be victimized back home and asking for more time to provide justification for keeping their identity concealed.

Giuffre’s defamation lawsuit against Maxwell, 62, allegedly began in 2016 and was resolved the following year, according to British media. However, in order to get the documents and look into the Epstein network, the Miami Herald then filed a lawsuit.

A number of case-related papers were made available to the public in 2019, just days before Epstein committed himself in jail while he was awaiting trial for sex trafficking.

Prior to turning into professional collaborators and accomplices in sex crimes for over three decades, Maxwell and Epstein were a couple in the early 1990s.

Epstein, a wealthy businessman with extensive connections both domestically and overseas, was charged with the sexual assault of underage girls; however, his case was put on hold when he committed himself by hanging in a New York jail in August 2019.

For years, fabricated lists and altered images of Epstein have been circulating in conspiratorial online communities, stoking rumors about the financier’s possible partners.

That hysteria was sparked again by the expected revelation of names from court records.

After American football player Aaron Rodgers hinted that the late-night presenter would be on the list, comedian Jimmy Kimmel vowed to sue Rodgers.

The unfounded accusation spread on social media sites like X, where a number of remarks even attracted actor Tom Hanks.
