Eid Ul-Fitr 2024: Saudi Arabia Urges Muslims To See The Crescent Moon On April 8

As the holy month of Ramadan draws to a close, Saudi Arabia has said that Muslims should be ready to see the crescent moon on April 8 in the evening. Muslims celebrate Eid Ul-Fitr, often known as Eid Al-Fitr, marking the conclusion of Ramadan. Meethi Eid is another name for it in India.

The Saudi Supreme Court released a statement, as reported by Al Arabiya, urging locals to report any moon sightings and contact the appropriate authorities.

“The finding must be reported to the closest court or center after the sighting, which may be done with the naked eye or via binoculars. Beginning on March 11, 2024, Ramadan is a period when Muslims abstain from food and liquids from dawn to sunset.

“The Supreme Court hopes that those who have the ability to see will pay attention to this matter, join the committees formed in the regions for this purpose, and calculate the reward for participating,” the Saudi Press Agency stated in the statement.

The lunar calendar, which has 12 months with 354 or 355 days each, is used by the Islamic faith. In the Islamic calendar, the ninth month is designated for Ramadan, which ends on Eid Ul-Fitr. The feast, or celebration, of breaking the fast is known as Eid al-Fitr. People attend mosques and take part in congregational prayers on the day of Eid. Families come together and get dressed in new clothing after this. Exquisite Eid celebrations are planned to commemorate the day.
