High artificial sweetener content in cake connected to Punjabi girl’s death: report

The cake included a high proportion of artificial sweetener, according to information released by authorities on Monday. Tragically, the cake caused the death of a 10-year-old child in Patiala, Punjab, last month.

After eating a chocolate cake that she had ordered online from a bakery for her birthday, the girl’s whole family became ill.

According to a report, the cake was baked with a significant quantity of saccharine, a chemical component with a sweet taste.

Foods and beverages contain modest amounts of saccharine, but excessive amounts may raise blood sugar levels quickly.

As a FIR has already been filed against the bakery’s owner, officials said that action would be taken against the business.

Following the event, the proprietor of the bakery was banned by the meal ordering service Zomato, and the bakery was taken off of its site.
