‘Lalitham’ classical arts contests will be hosted by Lalithambika Sangeetha Natya Koodam

The Swathi Thirunal College of Music alumni collective Lalithambika Sangeetha Natya Koodam will present the first-ever “Lalitham Ragam” and “Lalitham Nadanam” contests, which will include the best of classical music and dance. The event will take place in May, and registrations are still available until May 5.

The events, which are split into two age groups: seniors (15 to 25 years old) and children (7 to 14 years old), are expected to draw skilled participants from all around the area. Lalithambika Sangeetha Natya Koodam’s creator, Unnikrishnan L P, showed his enthusiasm for the innovative program by stating, “This kind of competition for classical art forms is uncommon outside of youth festivals.” The goals of “Lalitham Ragam” and “Lalitham Nadanam” are to promote traditional arts by giving Bharatanatyam and Carnatic music their purest forms on stage.

The Lalithambika Sangeetha Sabha will host the music and dance contests starting on May 10 and May 17, respectively. The activities will also be broadcast live on Facebook by the organizers. Renowned judges will evaluate the performances, and the winners will get monetary prizes.
