Mahashivratri 2024: Three Indications That May Offer You Fortune and the Blessings of Lord Shiva

The festival of Mahashivratri is highly awaited by Lord Shiva’s followers in Sanatan Dharma, where it is celebrated with tremendous fervor. Mahashivratri happens on the Chaturdashi Tithi of Krishna Paksha in the month of Phalgun, as per the Hindu calendar. Mahashivratri falls on March 8 this year, starting at 09:57 p.m. and ending at 06:17 p.m. on March 9. The festive event honors the heavenly marriage of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva.

Neeraj Bhardwaj, a renowned astrologer in Ayodhya, recently provided Local 18 with insights on the unique meaning of Mahashivratri in Sanatan Dharma. Bhardwaj emphasized the following fortunate indicators connected to Lord Shiva that, when observed, are said to bring good luck:

Darshan of the Snake: Bhardwaj states that seeing a snake, black or otherwise before Mahashivratri is very fortunate. Meeting the serpent of Lord Shiva is said to bring good fortune and benefits.

Rudraksha: On Mahashivratri, it is considered lucky to see Rudraksha, who is worshipped by Lord Shiva. Prior to Shivratri, keeping Rudraksha in a secure location is believed to bring joy and wealth into the home.

Belpatra with Five Leaves: Belpatra is a very important offering in the worship of Lord Shiva. Although three-leaf Belpatra is often presented, seeing the uncommon five-leaf Belpatra before Mahashivratri is seen as very auspicious. This event is connected to Lord Shiva’s five divine attributes—creation, preservation, destruction, absorption, and grace—and is said to portend auspiciousness.

In addition, Bhardwaj emphasized how uncommon it is to come across a five-leaf Belpatra, adding to its hallowed value. This hallowed leaf is rich in symbolism and captures the heavenly essence of Lord Shiva’s complex personality.

Devotees excitedly anticipate the chance to participate in rites, prayers, and sacrifices devoted to Lord Shiva as Mahashivratri draws near. The celebration encourages devotion to the heavenly pair, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, and provides an opportunity for introspection and blessing-seeking. It is thought that by adhering to these auspicious indications connected to Mahashivratri, one might attract heavenly blessings and prosperity into their lives.
