The Park Hyderabad is graced with the unique art show by Artix, a canvas of creativity

We are all linked to life in different ways, and art is a reflection of that. Artix, a distinctive art show, graced The Park Hyderabad, embracing this concept. This all-Indian hotel art show took center stage, converting a whole floor into a dynamic display of artistic talent. The event was organized by Payal Kapoor, Malvika Poddar, and Sethu Vaidyanathan, who envisioned an opulent show of creative expression and included artworks from both Indian and foreign artists.

Payal Kapoor explains the spirit of Artix as follows: “This is India’s first hotel art show, providing a completely immersive and unheard-of art experience. We were inspired to bring this idea to India by similar events that are happening all over the globe, especially in places like Tokyo, Los Angeles, and Paris, where hotel art shows are very well-liked. Every hotel room is turned into a painting, resulting in an opulent and exclusive atmosphere that is unmatched.

Examining the wide range of artists included in the display, Payal says, “We have selected almost 200 pieces for this exhibition, from jewelry and textiles to traditional paintings.” We place a strong focus on native Indian art since we think it is the height of elegance. We’re also happy to present pieces by four foreign artists, which further demonstrates how art knows no geographical bounds.

Payal reflects on the origins of the show and says, “As collectors, we shared a passion for art, which gave rise to the idea.” Our idea was to turn a whole hotel floor into an extensive art show that would engage people from all walks of life and include a wide range of artistic mediums.

Speaking on how art has changed, particularly after the COVID-19 epidemic, Payal said, “Art is a pursuit driven by passion and cultural engagement.” The Indian art scene has grown significantly over the last two to three decades, and now art is not just a profitable investment but also a means of expression.

Payal thanks everyone and acknowledges the commitment needed to realize such a large-scale exhibition: “We worked nonstop for around six to eight months to make this idea a reality. Our team put in a lot of effort, and we owe our friends and supporters for helping to make this project happen.

Payal goes on to explain why Hyderabad was selected as the location: “Hyderabad has a rich cultural past, symbolised by its history as the Nizams’ seat. The city was a perfect fit for Artix because of its educated and multicultural population as well as its love of art. In a city that really appreciates and supports art, we wanted to celebrate it.

Insights into his creative process are provided by artist Simran KS Lamba, whose works are on display at Artix. He says, “I have been working with tar since 2007, exploring its potential for artistic expression.” Each sculpture addresses a variety of subjects, including social difficulties and environmental concerns, and is the outcome of experimental and inventive methodologies.

Simran goes on to explain the supplies and methods he uses in his artwork, saying, “I use tar, polishing agents, encaustic wax, and different chemical treatments in my works.” I overlay elements as I work to produce distinctive textures and visual effects. All of my artworks, which range from using construction gravels to melting crayons, are proof of my artistic research.

The exhibition’s magnificent jewelry and textiles, in addition to the paintings, enhance the viewing experience for visitors. With its unique platform and stunning artworks adorning every square inch of the floor, Artix offers guests an unforgettable immersion into the world of art.
