Affected by TNIE: Bhuvanagiri Welfare School’s principal was suspended

S Srinivas, the principal of the Social Welfare Residential School in Bhuvanagiri, has been suspended by an order issued by the secretary of the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS).

Recall that on April 16, TNIE released a story headlined “Food poisoning in Bhuvanagiri school: No trust in inquiry panel.”

This comes after an event when a number of pupils were unwell from what seemed to be food and water contamination.

According to TSWREIS authorities, steps have been taken to solve the problems with food, water, healthcare, and hygiene. The district collector, the other district officials, the DM & HO, Bhuvanagiri, and other experienced officers have been sent to oversee the actions.

Umamaheshwari, OSD for mental well-being at TSWREIS, has been instructed to remain at the facility for ten days in order to oversee the successful execution of corrective measures, further guaranteeing the kids’ wellbeing.

Furthermore, a commission of investigation headed by TSWREIS Joint Secretary (Acad-I) Anantha Lakshmi has been formed. This committee will look into the event and report its findings. It will consist of the Chief Vigilance Officer and the OSD, Panacea. The guilty parties will face further consequences.

Put pressure on the secretary to lift the suspension.

Principals of other Social Welfare Residential Schools/Colleges in the state are debating the suspension. Many people are pleading with the TSWREIS secretary to reevaluate the choice, arguing that suspensions need to be carried out only after a thorough investigation by a senior official. A group school principals stressed the need for responsibility in a direct WhatsApp communication to the Secretary, expressing their concerns.
