Talk about “Forensic Toxicology”

A two-day workshop on “Forensic Toxicology” was arranged by the Himachal Pradesh Directorate of Forensic Services with the aim of discussing and exploring improved testing processes for prompt disposal, reducing turnaround time, and producing high-quality results that meet international standards.

Dr. Priyankar Ghosh, the Director (retired) of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (Ministry of Home Affairs), said at the inaugural session that the forensic chemistry and toxicology divisions account for around 50% of the sample intake in almost all forensic science labs in India.

The report’s filing is delayed as removing poison from a biological matrix is a complicated process. In toxicology, every sample has to be analyzed methodically, and the sample medium is very important, according to Ghosh.

He continued by saying that this training has assisted in dispelling myths about the removal of medications from samples.

Under Dr. Ghosh’s direction, the Scientific Working Group on Chemical Sciences met throughout the workshop with the aim of updating and improving the quality of the output as well as revising the current chemical sciences working process handbook.

According to Ghosh, a deadline has been set for creating the chemistry and toxicological working process manuals in accordance with international standards.
