Ajay Maken said, “Thanks to party chief, Sonia Gandhi, and Rahul,” after being named Treasurer by the AICC

Ajay Maken, the head of the Congress, congratulated the party’s senior brass on Sunday for choosing him as the new Treasurer of the organization.

Speaking to ANI, the Congress politician said he wanted to thank the party’s top leadership for “showing trust” in him.

“This was brought to my attention following the screening committee meeting. I appreciate the chance and the faith shown in me by the party’s president Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, and Rahul Gandhi,” he added.

Ajay Maken, the party’s leader, was notably named the new Treasurer of the party by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday with immediate effect.

The All India Congress Committee’s Treasurer has been named by the Congress President, effective immediately, according to a statement from the party’s General Secretary, Organization, KC Venugopal.

Pawan Kumar Bansal will be replaced by Maken, who is regarded as one of Rahul Gandhi’s closest confidantes.

The departing Treasurer Pawan Kumar Bansal’s contributions are valued by the party.

Maken, a former minister in the Union, formerly held the positions of Delhi unit chairman and minister in Sheila Dikshit’s Delhi administration.

Ajay Maken, a member of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), formerly held the position of General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC).

In the Cabinet of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, he also held the position of minister.
