Among the 40 prominent AAP politicians running for Gujarat is Arvind Kejriwal’s wife
A list of 40 well-known candidates for Gujarat was revealed by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday. Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi who is incarcerated, and other ministers’ names are on the list.
The AAP is running in Gujarat for two seats: Bharuch and Bhavnagar, as part of the India bloc. It has fielded MLAs Chaitar Vasava of Dediapada and Umesh Makwana of Botad for the seats.
The name of Kejriwal’s wife, Sunita, has been cited by the AAP as the top star campaigner. In a money laundering investigation related to the Delhi excise policy issue, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) detained the Chief Minister of Delhi on March 21. On March 22, Kejriwal was first placed under ED remand for a period of six days. It was then prolonged by a further four days, and on April 1st, he was placed into judicial custody. His judicial detention was extended till April 23 after it ended on Monday.
In a similar vein, the list includes Sisodia and Jain, who are incarcerated. Jain was also taken into custody in a separate money laundering case last year, along with Sisodia.
