Row involving wrestlers: protesters ask a Delhi court for a copy of the charge sheet against the WFI chief

The female wrestlers have sought a Delhi court on Monday to get a copy of the charge sheet brought against the departing Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) head Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

The chargesheet in its entirety
Singh, a BJP MP, was charged on June 15 with violating the IPC’s sections 354 (assault or criminal force to a woman with the purpose to violate her modesty), 354A (sexual harassment), 354-D (stalking), and 506 (criminal intimidation).

The complainants’ attorney was instructed to get a certified copy at the court’s copying facility by Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Harjeet Singh Jaspal, who will review the charge sheet tomorrow.

The charge sheet also listed Vinod Tomar’s name for offences under sections 109 (abetment of any offence, if the act abetted is committed in consequence and where no express provision is made for its punishment), 354, 354-A, and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC. Tomar was the suspended assistant secretary of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI).

Singh is accused of violating the POCSO Act.
A second FIR was filed against Singh under the POCSO Act based on claims of sexual harassment made against him by a young wrestler.

She was one of the seven women wrestlers who had accused Singh of harassing them sexually.

Both FIRs discuss several claimed instances of sexual harassment committed by Singh over the course of a decade, including unwanted touching, groping, stalking, and intimidation.

On June 15, the Delhi Police submitted a final report on the minor’s case, requesting the FIR be dismissed.

In situations when police conduct a thorough investigation but fail to uncover corroborating evidence, a cancellation report is submitted.

In an astonishing admission, the father of the young wrestler claimed to PTI that he and his daughter had accused Singh of sexual harassment by filing a “false” police report because they felt Singh had wronged the young woman.

The two times that Singh has been questioned by the police so far, he has rejected all of the accusations and said he is being “framed.”
