An NEET aspirant commits himself in a Kota hostel room

Police stated on Wednesday that a 19-year-old NEET candidate from Uttar Pradesh reportedly killed himself by hanging himself from a ceiling fan in his dorm room here.

This year’s first suspected student suicide case at the coaching center occurs in this instance. The crime occurred on Tuesday, and the victim’s room at a hostel in Kota’s New Rajiv Gandhi Nagar neighborhood is where the police found the corpse.

According to Naveen Mittal, head of the Kota Hostel Association, the victim’s room’s fan lacked an anti-suicide mechanism, which is against the district’s hostel regulations. According to Mittal, the group will put the hostel on a blacklist and urge the district government to take ownership of it. He said that rules were still being broken in a number of the city’s hostels.

Authorities from Kota district had mandated that hostels install anti-suicide spring devices on ceiling fans. Mohammed Jaid, 19, a native of the Moradabad district in Uttar Pradesh, was identified as the dead, according to DSP Bhawani Singh, the Jawahar Nagar area’s circle officer. He was at a coaching center in the city getting ready for his second shot at the NEET.

The officer said that the victim’s parents will arrive in the city once the corpse was put in the morgue and the post-mortem was scheduled. Singh said that when Jaid remained inside his room till Tuesday night, the hostel warden called the police. He said the cops were called at ten o’clock at night.

The DSP said that no suicide note was found in the room and that an inquiry will be conducted to determine the motive for the drastic action. In Kota, where thousands of students come each year to prepare for engineering and medical entrance exams, there were 26 student suicide incidents last year—the highest number in the coaching hub’s history.
