India Votes 2024: Forum says it would push for a NOTA if villages are not built

Chandigarh Pendu Vikas Manch today unanimously announced, with BJP leaders present on stage, that if the villages’ aspirations go unmet and they are not developed, the people of 22 villages would choose to represent themselves as NOTAs in the next Lok Sabha election. Today was the formation day of the forum.

On stage were nominated councilman Satinder Singh Sidhu, senior BJP leader Tejinder Singh Saran, and senior deputy mayor and BJP councillor Dhanas Kuljeet Singh Sandhu. Saran was appointed this forum’s chairperson.

The Chandigarh Tribune was informed by Kuljeet Singh that, “I was not present when this NOTA statement was made.” I went there only as a senior deputy mayor to hear their complaints. I shall now bring up their sincere requests with our party leadership. It’s a non-political front, according to Sidhu.

The conference said that in order to address land acquisition concerns, Chandigarh should, like Punjab and Haryana, adopt a land pooling policy.

“The people of villages, including Maloya, are with the BJP…as we have done several development works in the villages,” said BJP secretary Sanjeev Rana.
