ASI in vigilance net for accepting bribe of Rs. 15K, Tarn Taran

After receiving a bribe of Rs 15,000, a team from the Vigilance Bureau (VB) detained an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) who was assigned as an investigating officer at the Sadar Patti Police Station in the Tarn Taran district today.

According to a VB official, Karam Singh was taken into custody after a lady who lived in Taran Taran’s Sarhali Kalan hamlet filed a complaint.

In his complaint to the VB, the complainant claims that the ASI wanted a payment of Rs. 65,000 in exchange for supporting his son-in-law in a police case. He went on to say that the accused had previously accepted a bribe of Rs. 24,000 and was now requesting the remaining amount.

The culprit was apprehended by the VB team while taking a bribe of Rs 15,000 from the complainant in front of two official witnesses, thanks to a trap that was set up. During the first probe, the Rs 24,000 bribe that was previously accepted as the first installment was also found.

At the Amritsar range’s VB police station, a charge under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been filed against the defendant.
