Attempts to Grant Quota to Marathas, Government Acknowledgments Their Requests: Fadnavis

On Thursday, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the administration is working to give the Marathas their due and that attempts are in progress to provide them reservations. On Thursday, on the festival of Kartiki Ekadashi, a group from the Maratha community met with Fadnavis at Pandharpur town in the Solapur district. There, the deputy chief minister and his spouse conducted a puja at the temple dedicated to Lord Vitthal and Goddess Rukmini. The community has called for reservations in government employment and educational opportunities.

Fadnavis said in a post on X that the state administration is responding positively to the concerns of the Maratha community. Eknath Shinde, the chief minister, has promised to provide the community reservations. We fully support him wherever we are. The problem will undoubtedly be resolved. According to him, efforts are being made to provide reservations to the Maratha group.

The delegation also urged that the state government set aside land for the building of Maratha Bhavan in Pandharpur, the establishment of Annasaheb Patil Arthik Vikas Mahamandal and SARTHI sub-centers, and the building of a student hostel in the town of the temple. The Maharashtra government founded the independent Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Research, Training and Human Development Institute (SARTHI) to further the social, economic, and educational advancement of the Maratha and Maratha-Kunbi communities.

According to Fadnavis, the state administration is amenable to all of these requests. Within the following fifteen days, the delegation tasked with building Maratha Bhavan and a hostel may see the land pieces that are available from the Solapur district collector. The place that the delegation prefers will be allocated by the government. He said, “We’re going to start building before the next monsoon.”
