Bengal’s Murshidabad Witnesses Violence During Ram Navami Procession; BJP Attacks Mamata Government

On Wednesday, April 17, miscreants allegedly attacked the Ram Navami procession near the Shaktipur police station of Rezinagar village in the Murshidabad district of West Bengal. This was despite the fact that several police stations were on high alert to prevent any communal tension on the occasion of the Ram Navami celebrations. Social media users have posted videos of people throwing homemade explosives at residences and stone-throwing at Murshidabad police officers.

Unauthorized individuals with direct knowledge of the situation informed Times Now that vandals hurled stones at the procession from the rooftops of Shaktipur homes. In the Manikyahar region, a few stores were purportedly plundered and crude explosives were thrown at several sites.

Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, was targeted by BJP IT Cell director Amit Malviya, who claimed, “Mamata Banerjee is a blot on West Bengal.” She failed to defend the Ramanavami Shobha Yatras once again. Targeted in Rejinagar, Murshidabad, are Hindu worshipers. Here, Hindus make up a small minority. Just bringing it up so she won’t hold the Hindus responsible for their own assault.

In a subsequent tweet, Malviya said, “Mamata Banerjee’s provocative communal speeches are responsible for the attack on the Ramnavami Shobha Yatra in Rejinagar, Murshidabad.”

By uploading a video of hooliganism on X, the BJP for West Bengal further attacked the Mamata-led administration in the state. The ineptitude of Mamata Banerjee in preserving the Ramanavami Shobha Yatras in West Bengal is shocking. Hindus, a minority in the region, are being targeted in Rejinagar, Murshidabad, the tweet said.

Opposition Leader in West Bengal In addition, Suvendu Adhikari attacked the West Bengal administration headed by Mamata Banerjee on X for attacking Hindus during the Ram Navami march. He said, “Just like last year, when the Shree Ram Navami Processions came under attack at Dalkhola, Rishra & Serampore due to the lack of intent of Mamata Police, this year as well Mamata Police failed to protect the Ram Bhakts.”

“Strangely, this time around, Mamata Police joined the miscreants in this ghastly attack and fired tear gas shells on the Ram Devotees to disperse them to ensure that the procession ends abruptly.”

Speaking about the attack on Hindus, State General Secretary Jagannath Chattopadhyay said, “We denounce the assault on the Ram Navami procession in Rejinagar.” This kind of assault against Santanis demonstrates how her followers have filed an attack in accordance with her strategy. In retaliation for the CAA and NRC, this force had already set fire to stations and vandalized government property in Rejinagar. The government is responsible for protecting the minority of sanatanis in that region. We will bring this up with EC. The last time, Sanatanis were also assaulted, and during the inquiry, when the NIA detained the miscreants, they were attacked as well. This demonstrates that Sanatanis and Hindus cannot safely conduct religious activities in Bengal.”

Notably, in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections, Murshidabad has become a centre for the manufacturing of crude explosives. These explosive devices have been found by police at a number of different sites across the area. Because of the extreme heat on Tuesday, explosives concealed beneath a wood mill in Rejinagar were inadvertently let off, terrifying the inhabitants.
