“Blockchain for Impact” and IIT K establish a strategic alliance to boost healthcare innovation in India

In order to foster innovations and promote improvements in healthcare in India, Blockchain For Impact (BFI) and the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) have launched a strategic cooperation under the BFI-Biome Virtual Network Program.

Through the Startup Incubation & Innovation Centre (SIIC), IIT Kanpur, the BFI will assist IIT Kanpur in encouraging entrepreneurial efforts as part of this relationship.

On Tuesday, Dr. Gaurav Singh, CEO of BFI, and Prof. Kantesh Balani, Dean of Resources and Alumni (DoRA), IIT Kanpur, signed a Memorandum of Understanding. Probash Sharma, the SIIC, IITK’s Professor-in-Charge; Prof. Amitabha Bandyopadhyay, the Co-Professor-in-Charge; Dr. Satya Prakash Dash, the BFI’s Senior Advisor; and Dr. Pooja Agrawal, the BFI’s Program Director, were among those in attendance.

In order to support healthcare-focused companies, the BFI has committed to provide over USD 150,000 over the course of three years to the Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC) at IIT Kanpur. Through this partnership, IIT Kanpur’s well-established expertise in promoting entrepreneurship is combined with BFI’s dedication to furthering biomedical research. Through the integration of these competencies, the collaboration seeks to provide significant remedies that tackle significant deficiencies in India’s healthcare system.

“I am very optimistic about the partnership between IIT Kanpur and BFI,” said Prof. Kantesh Balani, DoRA, IIT Kanpur, expressing his delight about the connection. By signing this MoU, we will be able to better assist entrepreneurs, exchange expertise, and increase our capacity development efforts.

In expressing his happiness at the collaboration, BFI CEO Dr. Gaurav Singh said, “Meeting the IIT Kanpur incubatees was incredibly inspiring.” It is simply astounding how much enthusiasm they have and how committed they are to healthcare innovation. The outstanding assistance that IIT Kanpur is providing to these entrepreneurs is in complete harmony with our common goal of expediting significant advancements in biomedical research. We are aggressively tackling significant deficiencies in India’s healthcare system via a variety of projects in biomedical research and innovation, local full-stack partnerships, and process-driven financing programs.

The collaboration of IITK and BFI represents a major advancement in the field of healthcare innovation in India. Through the pooling of varied knowledge and assets, this partnership has great potential to enhance public health and provide universal access to affordable healthcare.
