Ahmedabad police detain a guy from Uttar Pradesh who faked his death to get insurance money

About 17 years after he staged his own “death” in order to collect a substantial insurance payout, Aman, an Uttar Pradesh native, was taken into custody in Ahmedabad.

The 39-year-old Anil Singh Malek faked his own death by killing a beggar and then collected the insurance money.

After the crime, Malek established himself as Rajkumar Chaudhary and moved to Ahmedabad, posing as him after his family demanded Rs 80 lakh in insurance money.

With his wife and two children, Malek began a family without disclosing his criminal history.

The case dates back to 2004, when Anil, who was in his 20s at the time, his brother Abhay, and father Vijaypal plotted to falsely claim insurance money, according to UP police. They paid Rs 20 lakh for Anil’s LIC insurance and a brand-new hatchback automobile as part of the plan. In the event that the policyholder perished in an accident, the insurance payout would be double, according to a condition.

The Malek family then started looking for a weak victim with the help of two accomplices, Mahipal Gadaria and Rakesh Khatik.

They made the decision to use a beggar they saw in July 2006 as insurance bait. After bringing the beggar to a hotel, the three gave him sedatives to put in his meal.

They placed the beggar in the driver’s seat and rammed the car into an electric pole after he passed out, which caused the automobile to catch fire. The three doused the corpse in gasoline and lit it on fire in an attempt to render it unrecognizable.

Aninformer’s information led to Anil’s eventual apprehension by the authorities.
