Today in Termez, Uzbekistan, Army Chief General Manoj Pande participated in the joint military exercise “Dustlik” between India and Uzbekistan.

General Pande is in Uzbekistan for four days, from April 15–18. The Army Chief was joined by two Uzbek dignitaries: the Chief of Southern Operations Command and the Deputy Minister of Defense for Combat Training. The contingent commanders informed him on the strategy for the exercise. General Pande observed the training exercises after the briefing. The head of the Army spoke to and engaged with the soldiers from both countries, expressing gratitude for their cooperative efforts. The relevance of the expanding alliance between the two nations’ military forces was discussed by the Army Chief.

“Dustlik” seeks to improve joint capabilities and promote military collaboration in order to carry out operations in semi-urban and hilly terrains. High levels of physical conditioning, teamwork, combined tactical exercises, and the fundamentals of special weapons proficiency would all be stressed.
