Delhi L-G asks jail authorities for a report over the AAP’s allegation of insulin refusal

On Thursday, Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena of Delhi requested a factual report from the Director General of Prisons on the Aam Aadmi Party’s claims that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was not receiving insulin while incarcerated in Tihar.

The LG’s decision follows Delhi Cabinet member Atishi’s allegations—rejected by the prison administration—that there was a conspiracy to assassinate Chief member Arvind Kejriwal, who was detained by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the excise policy case, by depriving him of insulin and home-cooked meals while he was incarcerated.

The Raj Niwas stated: “Shri VK Saxena @LtGovDelhi has expressed grave concern over reports based on statements by Ministers & AAP leaders alleging that Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal, who is in jail, is not receiving insulin and that there are alleged “conspiracies” against him.”

“DG Prisons has been requested by Shri Saxena to provide a thorough and factual report on the subject within a day. Raj Niwas said in a series of postings on X that “LG has guaranteed that no laxity with regard to CM’s health will be tolerated, even though prisons as a transferred subject comes directly & totally under the AAP Govt.”

Atishi informed a press conference that the chief minister’s demands for insulin had been turned down by the Tihar prison administration, and that the ED and PRIONS officials were opposing his efforts to set up a video chat with his physician. “His blood sugar level has consistently been above 300 mg/dL for the past few days,” she said.

“Kejriwal has repeatedly asked for insulin, but it is not being provided to him, and his blood sugar level is rising. Because there is a plan to murder him, he is not receiving treatment, she said.
