During Dussehra, a Muslim family from Meerut enters the Shimla shrine to create Ravana effigies

A Muslim family from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh is working through the night to create effigies of the characters Ravana, Kumbhkaran, and Meghnad from the epic Ramayana in preparation for the Dussehra holiday in an effort to promote interfaith cooperation.

Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, will burn the effigy of Ravana on Tuesday at Shimla’s well-known Jakhu temple.

These Ravana, Kumbhkaran, and Meghnad effigies were created over a period of time by Muslim households.

This year, the Muslim family from Meerut traveled to the Jakhu Temple to carve effigies of the demon king and other Ramayana figures.

“We go to Shimla for Dussehra every year. Being a part of the Dussehra preparations makes us really joyful. Over three generations have passed since we began creating sculptures and effigies. Our effigies of Kumbhkarna and Meghnad are 35 and 30 feet tall, while those of Ravana stand at 45 feet. We’ve been working here for a week now. The Meerut family member Mohammad Aslam told ANI, “We want to set an example and promote a message of communal unity here.

The young people introduced themselves as Rahat Hussain’s offspring, a Meerut native whose family has been producing effigies during Dussehra for the last 70 years.

For the last 15 days, Muhammad Aslam, Muhammad Addil, and Muhammad Arfeen, Rahat’s three sons, have been creating effigies at Shimla’s Jakhu temple.

These individuals remain at the Jakhu temple while the effigies are being prepared, and the temple administration provides for them meals.

These brothers also create effigies for Shimla’s Sankat Mochan shrine, Shoghi, and Sunni neighborhoods in addition to Jakhu.

On Tuesday, the nation will celebrate the holiday of Dussehra with its customary fervor.

Shiv Pratap Shukla, the governor of Himachal Pradesh, will start the Dussehra festivities in the Kullu district.
