Elections to the Lok Sabha in 2024: 447 individuals submit nomination papers for 11 Maharashtra seats in the fourth round

On Thursday, the last day of the procedure, 447 contenders submitted their nomination papers for Maharashtra’s fourth round of Lok Sabha elections, an official told news agency PTI.

On May 13, elections in eleven seats in Marathwada, western Maharashtra, and north Maharashtra will take place in the fourth phase.

According to poll authorities, the following candidates have submitted their papers: 18 from Nandurbar, 24 from Jalgaon, 31 from Raver, 47 from Jalna, 51 from Aurangabad, 38 from Maval, 42 from Pune, 46 from Shirur, 43 from Ahmednagar, 31 from Shirdi, and 76 from Beed, PTI said.

In the second round of the Lok Sabha elections, which are being held in 88 seats across 13 states and union territories, polling began on Friday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is pushing voters to turn out in historic numbers.

voting will take place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Declaring that the vote is their voice, Modi urged voters, particularly women and young people, to show up in large numbers at the polls, arguing that a high voter turnout supports democracy.

Mallikarjun Kharge, the president of the Congress, also asked people to cast ballots in order to defend democracy against tyranny.

Additionally, he said that before pressing the vote, people should have a deep understanding of the Constitution.

52 of these seats were won by the BJP in 2019, together with 12 by its current partners. These seats included seven of the eight in Uttar Pradesh, all 13 in Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh, respectively, and four of the five seats in Assam and Bihar.

In the last general election, 23 seats were gained by the members of the now-Indian group.
On April 19, 102 seats were up for polling in the first round of the election.

The first phase turnout of 62.37 percent might potentially be higher when the ballots are counted. When 91 seats were up for election in the first phase of 2019, the voting percentage was 69.43 percent.
