Every time the centre talks about implementing the uniform civil code, the opposition tries to cast a communal shade: Richard Singh

On Wednesday, Rajnath Singh, the defence minister, said that anytime the government speaks about enacting a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the nation, the opposition parties smear Prime Minister Narendra Modi and attempt to introduce a sectarian element.

Singh said that Modi has embraced Rajiv Gandhi’s criticism of corruption as a challenge and is working to eradicate the problem from the nation.

Singh said that he is not condemning Rajiv Gandhi since the position of prime minister should be honoured regardless of the party to which he belongs because it is an institution rather than simply a person.

On Tuesday, Modi pushed for a UCC, questioning how the nation could run with two sets of laws governing personal concerns. He also charged the opposition of manipulating the situation to “mislead and provoke” Muslims.

The Congress and other opposition parties have criticised the prime minister over the matter. Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, said his party will not let the BJP to deflect attention from pressing public concerns in a subtly ironic allusion to Modi’s drive for a UCC before of a number of upcoming Assembly elections and the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

At a public event in this area of Rajasthan to mark the end of the Modi administration’s nine-year term, Singh said politics shouldn’t be conducted by separating society but rather by uniting society and the nation.

“What we’re going to accomplish is what the Constitution’s framers outlined in the guiding principles of the Constitution. We’re going to carry it out and keep our end of the bargain. He questioned, “Why are we being accused?

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru wasn’t present in the constituent assembly, right? Were Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar and Vallabhbhai Patel absent? He questioned, “Why is Modi being defamed?

“I can say with conviction that it will not be allowed in the country,” the senior BJP leader said, “that someone will have the freedom to marry as many times as he wants.”

According to Singh, the federal government is dedicated to preserving women’s honour.

“What are we doing wrong? We are treating women with respect. Additionally, we said it in our manifestos. What makes people oppose it? There are efforts being made to give everything a collective hue. We won’t let the nation to function in this way, he said.

“Our commitment, regardless of caste, creed, or religion, is to respect for women. By engaging in the practise of “teen talaq,” no one can escape punishment, he said.

The defence minister further said that formerly, people saw India as “weak” and the “land of the poor,” but today, when the nation speaks on world stages, people pay attention.

He said that no minister has ever been accused of corruption throughout the nine years of the Modi administration.

I want to remind you that Rajiv Gandhi once said openly that only 15 of the 100 rupees he provides really reach the intended recipients; the remainder is lost to corruption.

Singh was not disparaging Rajiv Gandhi, he said.

Since a prime minister is an institution rather than merely a person, I do not attack any prime minister. No matter which party he supports, he deserves respect, he remarked.

The seasoned leader emphasised that talks alone cannot end corruption.

“Eradicating corruption from the country is a challenge, but the prime minister has worked in that direction,” he said.

The construction of a Ram temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, and the revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status as a region were promises made by the BJP during elections, according to Singh. Singh also noted that after winning majorities in both houses of Parliament, the party repealed the provisions of Article 370 of the Constitution in Jammu and Kashmir. A beautiful Ram temple is also being built in Ayodhya, he said.

The minister said that he abstains from Hindu-Muslim politics.

He said that India was responsible for spreading the idea of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (the whole world is one family) to everyone.

According to Singh, India is developing quickly in every industry, and the whole world is paying attention to it.

He said that every Indian has earned the respect that the prime minister has on a worldwide scale, and they should be proud of it.

The prime leader of Papua New Guinea reportedly knelt down to touch Modi’s feet while the Australian prime minister declared Modi the boss, according to Singh, who also said that US President Joe Biden informed Modi that he is well-liked on a worldwide scale and wanted to have his signature.

The Union minister said that it was the responsibility of the government and claimed that the public welfare programmes put out by the Modi administration were not a favour to the populace.

“You gave us love, but we also had to give something in return for your love,” he continued.

According to Singh, India produces weapons and other equipment for the military industry and has generated exports of $16,000 billion. In the next years, he said, the government’s export goal is to rise to Rs 40,000 crore.

He claimed that the prime minister had spoken to Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine and Russian President Vladimir Putin about a safe exit for Indian students who were trapped in the area as a result of a war between the two nations, noting that the fighting had been halted for four and a half hours and that 27,000 students had been evacuated.

According to Singh, there is a crisis of confidence caused by the discrepancy between political leaders’ statements and deeds, but the BJP has accepted the challenge and will end it.

We will behave as we say because it is who we are, he said.

Singh accused the Rajasthani Congress administration of distributing “bakshish” to voters in an election year.

He also criticised the state administration for Kanhaiya Lal, a tailor, being brutally murdered on this day last year in Udaipur.

Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, a union minister, Satish Poonia, the deputy leader of the opposition, and other BJP officials were present at the event.
